After the frenzy that was the Sunday Walking Street (night markets), our first day in Chiang Mai was wandering around, finding a good coffee shop and generally getting our bearings. This is pretty much becoming the norm for the first day anywhere. Chiang Mai is Thailand's second largest city but is very different to Bangkok. Much more chilled, much less traffic, it's cleaner, the people are very friendly and everything is much cheaper. Not that Bangkok was all that expensive. If you come to Thailand, come here! Sue and I both really like it.
We found a great, and healthy eatery, DADA Kafe tucked away in a side lane. Yummy cheap food and their iced cappuccino is so very good. The waiters treat us like old friends now.

About 100m from our motel was beautiful Wat Phan Tao. There are many around the Old City.
It was hot again today and we quickly tired of walking so we grabbed a tuk-tuk for a lap of the sites of the Old City.
There are so many Wats, but Wat Chedi Luang was interesting.
And the smoke still hangs around. Makes for some interesting sunsets though.
