Last Day In Bangkok

It's been an ordinary few days in Bangkok. I was sick for the first two days and was pretty much confined to the hotel. Sue was let loose alone in the Platinum mall and surrounding markets and returned with a backpack full of bargains (so I'm told), some of which we'll have to post back tomorrow.

Today we tried to make up a bit of lost time and hit the city stores this morning then went to jump on the river boat just as a storm hit, so that was a no-go.

We did get to do one thing that was on my list for Bangkok; that was to eat with the locals at a street 'restaurant', a real one in the 'burbs. There was one such place not far from the motel which the staff said was safe. It turned out to be four street vendors who had set up a menu and put out tables and chairs under an awning. The food was amazing, we both had king prawns and asparagus, Sue finished off with steamed bread and dipping custard. I didn't have a camera on the night so this is a shot from across the road, about as close as you would want to got really. Sue refused to eat there again.. something about rats and cockroaches. It all adds to the flavour doesn't it?

We hit the seedy streets of Patpong again tonight for dinner at the Noodi Noodle Bar. This place was packed out every time we passed, so we had to give it a try. It was packed out for very good reason, great food. Sorry Kitty, no food shots.

We fly to Chiang Mai tomorrow.
