The Interesting Stuff
Nepal.
The taste of fermented bamboo shoots; part of a meal at the Thamel House in Kathmandu.
Needing to post home a carton of shopping after only two weeks.
How Qantas has been the worst airline we've used so far. Including Air Asia who were exceptional when you consider the price.
The number of people who can actually fit into the departure area at Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok. There was easily more than 10,000.
Watching Sue transact in the local currency.
The Amusing Stuff
Sue coming back a nervous wreck from a 5 minute lone shopping trip in Thamel, Kathmandu.
Ordering a sticky rice dessert in Bangkok and getting steamed bread with special Thai dipping custard. Close. Sue said the bread/custard was delicious anyway.
The taxi driver taking us to the airport in Bangkok, bouncing the Toyota something, maybe a Crown, off the 7000 rpm rev limiter. He was too busy getting a piece of gum from the packet to change out of second gear.
At the Black Canyon Cafe in Chiang Mai ordering coffee with an extra shot and receiving the coffee plus a shot glass of black tea. Then finding out that the tea shot comes with all their coffees. The trainee waitress did get it right.
Watching Sue transact in the local currency.
Frozen vegetables on a vegetarian pizza. We weren't very hungry anyway.
The Not So Amusing Stuff
Being confined to the motel for two days in Bangkok. The annoying thing was that I didn't feel that ill, just not in control of certain functions.
Budget hotels. They're always okay, but there's always something about them to annoy you. Noise, location, something not working properly, not being able to get the right wipe angle unless the shower door is open.....
Watching Sue transact in the local currency.
The heat in Thailand.... it just doesn't stop.
The smoke haze in northern Thailand. So thick it's chunky.
