Sa Pa - Trekking Day Three

Only about 10km today, but much more uphill than the previous two days. The sellers were out in force again.

Some kids we came across on the trail. He was making a spears to hunt for water buffalo. That knife he had was ultra sharp! I took a bag of small mandarins for the kids today. I'm sure they would have preferred sweets but that's bad news for their teeth. The little dude wasn't going to let his get away.

There seems to be a sort of  'public' and 'private' school system in the hills. Not exactly sure how it works but I think the 'private' system is funded by the government whereas the other is funded by the villages themselves. These guys were at a public school. The little albino guy at the front was copping it from the others.

Me saving Sue from falling into the rice field. Thanks for the photo Willow.

Now that's how to wash a motorbike.

We walked 30km over the three days in Sa Pa. Beautiful scenery and friendly people.

The 2 day trip to Ha Long Bay and 3 days in Sa Pa combined cost just under US$700 for both of us. That included all meals, all transport including shuttles, all accommodation, guides and all trekking entry fees. There's a lot to be said for booking on the fly.

Tonight we're on the sleeper train back to Hanoi and then a few hours rest before catching a flight to Da Nang.
